You are an importer established in the EU?

As an importer established in the EU, you are considered the declarant because you have direct responsibility and control over the goods entering the EU market.

This ensures accountability and compliance with the CBAM regulations. As the entity importing the goods, you are best positioned to provide accurate information on the carbon emissions associated with your products and ensure that all necessary reporting and obligations are met.
As an EU importer, it is crucial to understand your responsibilities under the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (
CBAM).

Here is what you need to know to stay compliant:

Identify concerned goods: Determine which of your imported goods are subject to CBAM. The list of goods and their respective HS codes can be found on the European Commission’s website or you can check instantly with the help of our CBAM checker.

Gather CO2 emission data: Collect accurate CO2 emission data for your products. Since July 1, 2024 declarants are required to report actual CO2 emissions rather than default values. This data should be obtained from your suppliers or manufacturers.

Report submission: Submit your quarterly CBAM reports through the European Commission portal.

Use RMB's CBAM assistance: Thanks to our CBAM Navigator tool developed to streamline data collection and report submission, RMB simplifies compliance and ensures your reports are submitted correctly and on time.

Non-compliance can result in significant fines and legal consequences. Staying proactive when it comes to the CBAM can enhance your reputation and competitiveness in the market and position your company as a leader in sustainability and environmental responsibility.
